OneCare 1.5 Beta

While we are talking beta software, I also installed OneCare 1.5 onto my Vista RC2 device.

Seems OK, but how do you really tell whether such a product is really working or not.

Its a difficult question whether they work or not isn’t it! For example on my home PC I use the Norton suite. Recently I had some download speed issues on my ISP. I initially suspected some form of infection and as part of the process of eliminating that notion ran adaware. Funny as that hit some of the files it triggered Norton to detect some suspicious files, yet the full Norton scan an hour before hadn’t. My confidence reduced. In fact my confidence was only restored when I ran a sound bit of code called Ethereal to dump out the NIC activity and thoroughly reassure me that nothing untoward was happening (thanks to Mr Mc for that).
